SMARTANALYST Hosts Biotech and Healthcare Summit
NEW YORK- December 9, 2005 - SMARTANALYST, Inc., a pioneer in providing outsourced market research and analytics products and services, will host a summit for invited executives from the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, marketing communications, analyst and investment communities today.
The luncheon will feature keynote speeches from Dr. Pierre Jacquet of L.E.K. Consulting and Dan Katz of Quantum (a division of WPP Group's CommonHealth). Patrick Spain, president and CEO of HighBeam Research, Inc. and co-founder and former CEO and chairman of Hoover's Online, will provide an introduction. The summit is designed to provide guests an opportunity to ask questions, interact with peers and discuss the presentations with keynote speakers and other distinguished panelists.
Jacquet will speak and lead a discussion focused on growing a sustainable biotech franchise after an initial product launch. Topics will include the impact of an initial product launch, the need to drive revenue growth beyond first launch, the importance of momentum generated by subsequent products, the necessity of continued organic research and development, building a focused commercial infrastructure and successful transition to an earnings-driven model.
Katz' presentation and discussion will focus on trends in direct-to-consumer (DTC) marketing in the healthcare industry, including the impact of pressure from Congress and the FDA on DTC marketing and how DTC marketing will evolve. Key aspects will include the industry shift from content and media toward greater customer relationship marketing, how DTC marketing is becoming more educational in terms of risks and benefits and its evolution as a valued patient resource.
